The new enhancements to the Website are anticipated to be up and operational by this weekend. Larry Gusman, our Deputy Director of Teaching, is doing an outstanding job and we can hardly wait for the launch date. While these developments will change the “face” of the 2nd Thief website our heart is still and always will be declaring the truth of the love, joy, peace and freedom that is only found in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
Well, we are into the third week of 2006 – can you believe it! Our lives can slip away from us if we are not careful. Just ask any parent of grown (or growing) children. The Ministry is staying extremely busy and hopefully bearing fruit for all who are touched by it. The day we launched the “Online Interactive Bible Study” was the “most visited” day since the start of 2nd Thief. The second most visited day was when we discussed dealing with loss and I related the story of Kody.
Congratulations to our own Tony Gooden, who is the Deputy Director of Finance here at 2nd Thief, and his family. He and his wife, after prayerfully considering the matter, have decided to adopt another child from China. It is the desire of the Ministry to “chronicle” this process here on the website to share in the joy of this blessing with him and his family. We also would like to be a resource for others who are also prayerfully considering adopting a child from China or from any other country. Please join with us here as this great adventure unfolds. If you are aware of any families thinking of adopting in this manner share this Ministry website with them.
The Couples Motorcycle Retreat Ride is scheduled and in the calendar for June. “Mountaintop Baggin’ Ride” is the name for the ride and as you read over the following itinerary it will be clear why it was chosen. We will depart from the Haymarket, VA area on the 6th and returning on the 11th. During the first day the 2nd Thief Riders will pick up the Blue Ridge Parkway at the North entrance located in the Waynesboro, VA area of the State. We will be riding its entire 469 mile length, stopping at some very scenic points during our journey.
Some of the original 2nd Thief Riders just returned from the “Highways, Byways and Skyways Ride.” This was our Harvest Fellowship Ride for 2006 and involved riding 1500 miles through VA, TN, NC, GA and SC in four days. We rode the “Foothills Scenic Highway” in TN; the “Tail of the Dragon” at Deals Gap, NC; the “Cherohala Scenic Skyway” located in part of NC and TN; the “Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway” in SC and sections of the “Blue Ridge Parkway” in NC and VA. Needless to say we rode some of the finest motorcycle roads in the Nation.
